Does The NuEVI use embouchure lip buzzing?

I’m a classically trained trumpet player and would like to know if the “brass player’s/trumpet” mouthpiece uses the traditional embouchure lip buzzing method.

The NuEVI does not use a embouchure lip buzz method. It has a breath sensor that detects breath amount (blowing into the mouthpiece). The standard mouthpiece (rubber type that is inserted into your mouth) has 3 sensors. Breath/Bite/Lip touch. This is the most expressive method for sound control. For some players, they prefer a more familiar feel. For this, there is an alternative replacement traditional mouthpiece (where it is blown into, but still not lip buzzing). Though it may offer a more familiar feel, you will lose the bite and lip touch sensor.

What do you mean when you say "you will lose the bite and lip sensor"?

Alternative mouthpiece will be attached to replace the standard mouthpiece. The alternative mouthpieces are 3D printed which will not allow a bite mechanism and additionally causes the Lip sensor to be removed. There is an alternative way to trigger the equivalent of the lip sensor using your thumb (that controls the vibrato lever or pad, and pitch pend pads) -- the additional sensor is near proximity to these. So replacing the standard mouthpiece with an alternative mouth piece will result in loss of bite sensor and lip sensor would need to be activated with use of your thumb.

What options of additional mouthpieces are available and can you help me understand the benefits of each?

There are two standard replacement mouthpieces. The first is a Crumar style mouthpiece (often referred to as the db style). Folks who previously owned a Crumar style mouthpiece appreciate the familiarity -- it is a flat surface with an entry hole (to blow into) for breath pressure detection. There is a trumpet style mouthpiece which again allows folks who prefer familiarity. As previously mentioned, users do not buzz into it (like a traditional trumpet) rather breath pressure is applied. There is an additional distinction in that the standard mouthpiece uses a closed system which means there is no airflow as you blow and excess airflow is let out in the corners of your lips (see this for further info on this: viewtopic.php?t=49). The Alternative mouthpieces however do allow airflow to pass through.
