My battery indicator displays as charging state, but the USB cable is not connected.

I see that my unit has an issue with the battery charging indication. The screen shows battery charging even when nothing is plugged in.

Essentially the re-chargeable LiPo battery "estimates" its capacity based upon a number of factors. Fore example, not all LiPo batteries charge to a precise ceiling value. (in other words some may charge to a max value of 4.2 volts, whereas others may charge to a max value of 4.3 volts) ... because of this extremely minor inconsistency in [ max charge of battery ], the instrument may interpret a battery (that has a fraction above normal maximum charge capacity) as "charging" (for a brief amount of time) -- Your particular unit likely has a battery with above normal max capacity of charge. As you begin to use the instrument, you will see the indicator change from [ charging state ] to [ progress bar ] amount of use state. If you do not see the indicator change (after some use), then this could be indication of an actual problem.
