In the menu go into “adjust” and then scroll up to touch sensitivity. Tap on that key and see if a dot is moving at all. You might need to move the threshold in there more to the right so that dot goes to the left of the threshold when you touch it.
Let me know how that goes,

Re: releasing the left thumb from the octave rollers
You are not the only one using this aspect of the traditional EWI roller handling for triggers and commands. In the latest version of the firmware (1.5b9) there is added a menu item for choosing between roller handling modes. It is the ROLLRMODE setting in SETUP CTL menu. Mode 1 = Highest touched ro...

Re: the volume of the notes being played is very low
Most NuRAD/NuEVI players prefer the amount of breath pressure required to be very low.(so as to not at all really tax your lungs) .. It offers you to have extreme ease of control over the dynamics (volume) of the sound you are playing while not taxing your lungs really at all. Investigate the breath...

Re: How far forward do I go with my mouth on the mouthpiece?
The metal piece you see at the end of the mouthpiece (I think you are referring to as the bumper) is actually an additional sensor. It is called the lip sensor (or extra controller) ... while playing you have the ability to touch this sensor with your lip. The value amount of MIDI data of a particul...

Re: Can I use my teeth directly on the bite sensor mouthpiece?
Yes, that is the intended way to play. The reason is that there is a bite sensor (you literally bite down on the mouthpiece to initiate a custom MIDI control. It very assignable to MIDI control parameters.

Re: How do I keep the handlebar from popping out of the top clip?
Depending on the original adjustment of the handlebar clip screw, there might be the possibility of tightening it a bit. But if the handlebar is too much shaped to go beyond the clip in the back, it might need a slight adjustment. With the handlebar unclipped in the back, grip it by both sides and s...

Re: How do I turn off the extra controller on the mouthpiece.
For the extra controller, check the settings for EXCT in SETUP CTL menu. If you get something like an arpeggio it’s probably the EXCT HARM setting that’s active and needs to be set to OFF in that case.

Re: I'm having trouble finding the battery compartment.
The battery compartment is in the front of the instrument, under the Berglund Instruments logo etching. Under the top piece with the etching, there is a ladder shaped piece of plastic making sure the batteries can’t go out out position. Lift it up to access the battery holder. This is given the NuRA...

No worries! Glad you could eliminate the NuRAD as source of the problem.

Re: My DAW (Ableton) is not registering any MIDI input from my NuRAD (running 1.5b9)
If the cables you tried are know good and you tried on another computer or USB host without success, my next guess would be the internal USB cable in the NuRAD. You can verify this by opening up the top, disconnecting the internal USB from the Teensy board and connecting the USB cable directly to it...
